View Full Transcript

On today’s episode, Liz learns all about the Enneagram, what it is, and how it affects us individually and in our relationships from Leslie Root, LMFT. Whether you’re wanting to learn about your own Enneagram type, how it meshes with others’ in your life, or just downright what it is, this episode is for you!

EPISODE NOTES:

  • The Enneagram is a great way to understand how to have more meaningful relationships with the people you love. It dives into a whole new platform of inner knowing.

  • The Enneagram is not only a way to understand our nervous system, but also who we are, what motivates us, the way we relate, the way we love, the way we connect with other people. It’s a high level way to completely understand ourselves.

  • Learning about the Enneagram helps you to assess yourself personally - where you’re at, what your highest potential is, how you’re showing up in your relationships... etc.

  • Enneagram derives from a Greek word, ennea, meaning nine. The original Enneagram was not about personality at all.

  • There’s a huge desire in our population and our society right now to have meaning, and the Enneagram, in a lot of ways, gives people a meaning they can discover.

  • Oftentimes people take on characteristics of the number type next to their number type, but people are inherently only one number type.

  • It’s important not to focus on assigning others their number type - only focus on yours’ and let them experience their individual journey with the Enneagram.

  • Different cultures have different types and fit different numbers.

  • Typing is not an easy task and mistyping is very easy to do. One of the best ways to get started with discovering your type is to meet with an Enneagram practitioner, a professional like an Enneagram therapist or a coach.
